Paediatrics Research

At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, our paediatric research portfolio has been growing since we opened our first general paediatric research study in 2015, offering children & their families the opportunity to take part in a variety of studies.

Research in children is important for many reasons, as "Research with infants, children & young people is essential to improve our understanding of childhood diseases & provide healthcare based on the best possible evidence." (RCPCH, 2016)

Studies that we are taking part in at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are helping to discover:

  • New & improved treatments

  • Treatments for illnesses that only occur in children

  • Long term effects of treatments on growth & development

Research in children also:

  • Improves their outcomes

  • Enhances quality of life

  • Helps children become healthier adults
