Overview of clinical research, academic background and experience

Professor Issa is a Consultant Plastic and Burns Surgeon at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Associate Professor at the University of Oxford. His clinical interests centre on burns management and reconstruction, including long-term scar management.

 

His research interests are focused on transplantation and cellular immunology, including the development of new therapeutics to target graft rejection and the damaging immune responses that develop after burn injury. The aim of this work is to enhance healing and provide alternative methods for reconstruction after burns or trauma.

 

He receives funding from the Wellcome Trust through a CRCD Fellowship, as well as project funding through the Medical Research Council and the EU Horizon 2020 framework.
