Overview of clinical research, academic background and experience

I am a Consultant and Research Lead in Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Oxford University.

My specialist clinical interests lie in microsurgery and the functional reconstruction of the musculoskeletal system, including people with spinal cord injury. My academic focus in on wound healing in different types of tissues and to bring about the translation of lab research to improve outcomes in patients who require reconstructive surgery.

For my translational research, I have received funding from the Wellcome Trust, Academy of Medical Sciences, Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. I also conduct clinical research and trained as a Cochrane Fellow in 2017. I am hugely privileged to be part of a very ambitious and research-active department that aims to produce impactful research and makes a difference.
