Overview of clinical research, academic background and experience

Rebecca has been a consultant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for four years and is proud to be part of one of the leading academic plastic surgery teams in the country.

She has been excited to see and be involved in the change towards evidence-based practice during her career.

Rebecca was principle investigator at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for the multi centre Ninja trial in 2019 and is a consultant guarantor for the WIRE feasibility trial. She has successfully applied for the unit to be part of the Hand 2 trial, investigating needle fasciotomy vs fasciectomy for Dupuytren’s disease and recruitment is due to start at the end of 2020.

Her research interests are hand surgery, complex functional and reconstructive problems including upper limb tetraplegia and spasticity, pressure sores in patients with spinal injuries and diabetic food reconstruction.

She regularly reviews articles for the European Journal of Hand surgery and has also reviewed for the Journal of Plastic and reconstructive surgery.
