Extended reality in healthcare event comes to BHT!

 

BHT hosted it's first extended reality (XR) roadshow event (4 July) showcasing the latest Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology.   

 

The event, held at Stoke Mandeville Hospital brought together XR companies and leading experts with XR champions and clinicians across the Trust. Kicking off the event, we heard from Joe Varrasso (HoloMedicine Association) about how MR is being used in healthcare and saw a number of fascinating films showcasing use cases for the technology.

Other companies represented at the event included SyncVR Medical, currently running pilots across the Trust using some of their VR applications and TG0, who demoed etee, an exciting new approach to VR controllers using a novel pressure and finger sensing technology.

The event also featured MPHGroup and Isobel Magnusson who had travelled from Sweden to be there to talk about Divertini, a distraction tool born out of the need for more distraction solutions for children in healthcare. 

 

David Reilly, Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership Digital Innovation Manager said of the event: "I am a huge fan of the potential of immersive technology and it's ability to scale and I fully support BHT in the area."

 

Buckinghamshire Healthcare Projects Limited Managing Director, Eric Lanyon added: "The kit and the tech was mind blowing and I really enjoyed the presentations and contributions. I'm not sure what the next steps are, but we must take them!"
